Well, there are certainly many difficulties faced by women wishing to pursue a career and have a family. Firstly, No matter what they have to choose between two as a priority, and that can reallybe a tough choice. Without a career, the income of the family will drop and also some women do not like to be housewives as they would rather keep themselves occupied and contribute to the society. Secondly, the heavy work load they recieve can cause them to become really stress. And when they come back from home, they still have to spend time with their children. This makes them really very busy and if their chiildren are youngbbabies, frequent cries can make them easily irritated. Thirdly, women must also establish a storng relationship with her mother-in-law, many misundertsandings can occur if they stay together. When they have already suffered enough during work, they cna be easily frustrated when misundersdtandings between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law occurs. Lastly, women must also make sure that hr realtioship with her husband is maintained.

Employers should learn to be more lenient when it comes to women taking leaves but of course it must be appropriate too.

Oral Picture Day 8

Oral Picture Day 8

This picture depicts a scene at a small field. A group of young children are playing with their teachers on the small field. I believe that this area is used for outdoor activities for the children as a playground can be seen at the top right hand corner of the picture.
I believe that they are playing the game " The eagle catching chicks" whereby the teachers are the mother hen,the small children the chicks and another child as the eagle. The role of the mother hen, played by the teachers is to protect the chicks from the eagle. I believe the real scene is filled with laughters as the teachers and children are all smiling happily.I believe they really enjoy this game. Before playin this game, I believ the young children have had lessos in the kindergarten. Between few lessons, probably there was aresting time for them to engage in outdoor activities.

Oral Conversation Day 6

Oral Conversation Day 6

2. Yes, I think everyone can learn to be good at a sport. Sports requires stamina, interest, and experience. If you lack any of these you will not perform better than the others. This is why some people are better at sports than other people. Basically, if one has no interests in sports, he or she will not even spend free time learning a sport or doing vigorous training, thus he or she will never be as good as others who are willinglyy to spend time to learn. To be good in a sport requires alot of training, thus interest plays a big role. Well, I do not agree that men are better at sport than women. Men and women both have different sports that they are better in. For example, I would agree that men are better in sports like basketball, etc. This is due to their physical structure as men are relatively stronger than girls. Howevrer for certain sports like gymnastics, I believe women are better than men.

Oral Picture Day 6

Oral Picture Day 6

This picture depicts a scene at a stadium. I believe that an inter-school sports meet is being held. A group of girls wearing their school uniform is standing on the grass patch cheering for the team that they are supporting. I believe that a race is taking place at another end of the stadium. The girls are cheerying very excitedly and happily, thus I can infer that the team they are supporting are leading. Among the four girls, the second girl seems to be jumping when the shot was taken, this shows how happy they were. Behind them, a group of atheletes are seated on the track, either waiting for their turn or are resting after a race. I think the atheletes will feel very encouraged when they hear the encouragement and support of their friends.

Oral Conversation Day 10

Oral Conversation Day 10

1. A performance will defitnetly the concert of my favourite singer. What impressed me was his ability to make the audiences " high", the way he controlled the whole stage, his stage presentation, and of course his powerful voice and entertaining dance moves. Although Ive already knew that he could dance and sing very well, I was shocked when I got to see it "live". The feeling when watching him performing infront of me is really different from watching on tv or on the net. I was really impressed while watching the concert.
I will not consider acting as a career as I know that I cannot act well, and I do not have the interest in acting as well. Ive heard of the difficulties and hardship encountered by actors, and by how they descrbied the real life of acting, it makes me even more firm that i will not consider a career in acting. Moreover, acting requires you to memorises lines for your role. Ido not have a good memory and hate memorising, hence making it obvious that acting is not suitable for me.
If I were an actress, I would hope to act in evil roles such as criminals. This is because I will never get to "kill" someone or "steal" from someone without having abrush against the law. While acting, I can actually try how it feels to be so evil.

Oral Conversation Day 4

Oral Conversation Day 4

2. Animals, people and plants share the same world. Plant life and animal life are important to us humans in almost every aspect.Plants, animals, people, nature and wildlife are closely related and thus one should not overpower the other, as all of us need one another. Also, the losing of natural habitats and wildlife affects us either directly or indirectly. Thus, protecting natural habitats and looking after wildlife is a part we, humans, should contribute to the world. If natural habitats are destroyed, animas, plannts living there will die eventually due to the lack of resources. If the situation is bad, animals may become extinct or endangered. If these animals are beneficial for humans such as a source of food, we humans will also lose out. This further proves my point that people should protect natural habitats. In addition, if illegal hunting of wildlife continues to take place, eventually these animals will also be extinct. Even if humans do not consume this particular animal, the extinction of this animal will still affect a food chain that will eventually affect humans.

In my opinion, I think we are destroying nature in a large extent. Forests are burned just to clear space for planting of crops, trees are cut down for paper, animals are hunted for medicinal purposes, for their coat, or for their meat. The common sight will be urbanisation whereby forest are cut down to build tall buildings -- factories or offices. This actions of human has caused nature to be destroyed to a large extent.

However, urbanisation is important to a country. Without developed cities, the country will not be prosper as cities are the main sites for businesses. Although developingg cities damages nature somehow, it is still essential. But, damage to the environment can be minimised.

In conclusion, I feel that there is a need to protect natural habitats and wildlife as they belong to the world too, and they have direct or indirect relations to humans.

Oral Picture Day 4

Oral Picture Day 4

This picture depicts a scene of wheelchair-bounded people boarding a bus which specially accomodates to the needs of the disabled. The bus has a door open very widely and has a ramp which is broad enough for a wheelchair to go up the bus. From this, I can tell that the bus is specially prepared for the disabled, so that travelling from one place to another will be more convenient for them.
In the centre of the picture, a disabled man seating on a wheelchair, is seen using the ramp to enter the bus. A man is helping him by pushing the wheelchair up the ramp for him and another man in the bus, is seen giving a helping hand to the man in the wheelchair. Both of the man are really courteous and helpful, I believe they are volunteers in this particular voluntery organisation for the disabled.
In the foreground, around the man in the wheelchair, there are many volunteers too, I can tell this because all of them are wearing tags, to show that they belong to an organisation. All of them seem to be very patient, waiting for the disabled man to board the bus successfully.
In between the volunteers, another disabled woman is seating on a wheelchair. She is seen to be smiiling very happily. I believe this is the very first time she is taking a bus since she became disabled. Thus, she may be very excited.
I think after this, they might be visiting a place of attraction in Singapore, organised by this organisation for the disabled to be exposed to the outside world, instead of being limited to places due to their disability.
In conclusion, I think this voluntary oragnisation helps the disabilities to regain their confidence by bringing them to places where others can go. In this way, the disabled willl not feel restricted due to their disability.

Oral Conversation Day 2

Oral Conversation Day 2

2. I feel that CCTV or security cameras in public places is a good way to make sure that the public is protected by perpetrators such as thiefs and robbers. By installing CCTVs, those with bad intentions will think twice before commiting the crime, or causing hurt to others as their actions are being recorded by the CCTV. This makes them highly possible to be caught by the police even when they flee from the scene. CCTVs are defitnetly necessary. CCTVs makes the public feels safe, as they will feel that robbers or thiefs, for example, will less likely "take action" in places with CCTVs installed. For example, many shopping centres have CCTVs installed so as to ensure the safety of customers, and to prevent thefts, shoplifting cases from happening. In this way, the public will feel safe shopping there, and will frequent more often. Another example will be the installation of CCTVs in dark alleys, or HDB lifts. This is also to prevent crimes from happening, such as thefts, murders, or molestation. In general, CCTVs are to protect the public.
In my opinion, I feel security cameras make people feel more relaxed. Unless you are out to commit a crime, one should feel the same way as me. Security cameras only appears to be a disadvantage to perpetrators as their actions are monitored every second. Security cameras act as an obstacle to those with evil intentions.
In conclusion, I feel security cameras are important and should be installed in public places ad they ensure the safety of people.

Oral Picture Day 2

ORAL PICTURE - DAY 2

This picture depicts a scene of a hairdressing school, with trainees having practical, hands-on sessions with dummies provided by the school. The trainees are seen to be using dummies as they are not experienced enough, or have just learnt about the art of hairdressing not long ago. Once they are skillful enough, they can proceed to having live models for practice.
Starting from the left of the picture, the first woman is seen to be very focused, not allowing herself to make a mistake when she snips off the hair of the dummy. She is paying full attention when she is practicing, from this, we can tell that she has a great passion for hairdressing.
Beside her, another woman is holding a pair of scissors on her right hand, while, on the other hand, she is estimating the amount of hair to snip off from the dummy. She seems to be very happy or rather excited. From her facial expression, we can again tell that she iss very passionate towards hairdressing, and is keen to be a future professional hairstylist.
Beside her, a woman is also smiling very happily, showing her teeth. Just like the woman on her right, she has a great passion for hairstyling.
On her left, a woman is seen using a tong curling a wig, to blow temporary curls.
Just next to her, another woman is seen to be in full concentration, styling the wig on the dummy. She seems to be doing a rather difficult job, as she seems to be a little stressed.
On the table infront of them, there are hairclips, hair conditioner, and some other equipments useful for hairstyling. I believe that after practicing cutting hair on the wigs, the woman will proceed to practice the skill of washing the hair and massaging the scalp of clients, as the conditioner on the table says so.
In conclusion, I believe these woman will be able to become professional hairstylists if they carry on being so passionate about the art of hairdressing. As long as they dont give up, they will be able to succeed.

DETECTIVE STORIES

DETECTIVE STORIES

I enjoy reading detective stories alot as it it is much more iinteresting than other genres! It keeps one in suspense, till the end of the story where the answer to the mystery is revealed. Jack, with 8 years of violin experience, is a deaf violinist, most of us will think that it is a task fraught with impossibilities for a deaf person to play a violin, especially when it is not for recreational purposes only. However, Jack an assiduous person, proved us wrong, he came in second place in the 2009 singapore violin competition, beating many other pros who are much older. In even weeks, the whole week will be filled with tests! As crazy as 5 tests! We simply cannot afford the time to watch an hour of TV show, or to use the computer during weekdays.
Test results so far have been quite disappointing, I think I myself is culpable of that, but I promise to persevere. Slacking will preclude past year's effort to enter triple science class and also it will fetter my future. I can understand why teachers display asperity when students are not working hard. Teachers are just tyring to drive us to our fullest potential.

T1W4

T1W4: GOAL IN LIFE
What do I aspire to be? This question has been lingering in my mind since young, and I have come out with many different answers! When I was in lower primary, I was inspired by a teacher. She could teach very well, she was friendly with students, not bias to any and most importantly she cared for us and taught us important lessons in lifes that textbooks do not cover. She affected me somehow. Thus, I wanted to be a teacher when I Was in Primary 2&3.
As far as I could remember, in Primary 6 when I was suppose to do a self-introduction in class, I said that I wanted to be a doctor. Well, I think I was more realistic then as I thought that all doctors earn realtively high incomes.
As for now, I aspire to be a professional dancer . It may not drive me high incomes but I feel that the most important thing in life is to be happy. Thus, if you enjoy your job, it would be wonderful!
But whatever it is, we all have to start from small roles so as to turn into big, successful people. So even if your employers relegate you in positions with unattractive pays, you have to start from there so as to become successful. If you behold the wrong attitude, you might be ousted from your sinecure. On the other hand, if you are successful, you can make singular contributions to the society.

T1W3

T1W3 THE BURGLAR
Everyone was sleeping soundly. The burglar,Ken crept into the dark and quiet house like a hunted animal, moving with ghostly silence. The only sound that could be heard was his own breathing. The moment he saw a wallet laying on the marbled floor in the living room, he surreptitiously grabbed it and dumped it into a black sack. Then he deliberately knocked the door of the master bed room to test if Mr.Lee was asleep. After seconds of silence, the burglar decided it was time carry out the plot he had planned. He took slow and soft steps and walk into the master bedroom, to his horror, Mr.Lee was standing right infront of him. What Ken had thought to be a viable plan, turned out to be unachievable! He immediately bolted towards the door trying to escape. However, 2 police officers stood right infront of him and promptly subjugated him. Ken, realising that there was no choice but to give in importune the police and Mr.Lee to forgive him. After much investigation eventuate in the fact that Ken had been stealing even after his release from prison last month.

Can one improve his/her english skills?

Can one improve his/her english skills?
In my opinion, I think that one can defitnetly improve his/her english skills, it only matters whether that person is determined to improve or not. Learning is a skill and it can be improved, you have to find ways you are interested in to improve languages. Languages are built up day by day unlike other subjects like Mathematics, thus it is more crucial to start improving early. Also, you have to be motivated to learn english or else you will get frustrated and give up easily. Maybe you can actually set yourself achievable goals, for example, learning at least a new word every day, read a book a month or read the newspaper everyday.
To sum up, if you want to improve your english skills, reading plays a major role in it. By reading books, you will be able to learn the ways the author used to describe people, places or feelings. This can help you in your future writing.

T1W2

T1W2: SEC 3 LIFE!
School has already entered the third week, and class have been fun so far except for some lessons like A-maths! A-maths is totaly tough, and I still dont understand anything about Remainder Theorem & Factor Theorem! But anyway, I am starting to love my ilk now! There are many many fun people around me:D I could still remember during the first day of school, I was so timorous about what kind of people my class will have. But now, I feel so fortuitous to be in 3LY! Of course, many people have their unique personalities some may be fractious while others may be kind & helpful. I've since learnt to accept this fact.
Also, Sec3 will be a very hectic year, I have to work really hard this year! I believe that there will be remuneration if I work hard! :D

T1W1 DANCE ON SATURDAY!

T1W1 DANCE ON SATURDAY!

It was NAFA'sopen house yesterday, most sec threes dancers went and we attended a Modern dance basics course. There were dancers from River Valley High too, and look here, GUY DANCERS too! The guys were even stretching when we entered the studio! 4 of Amanda's seniors from Crestar were present too, I could tell that they were all zealous dancers! The instructor was a caucasian and he briefly introduced himself to us, he is a very experienced teacher, he taught in perches(confirm wrong spelling) college in America and he has been teaching Dance for like 40 over years?! That explains why he has a comprehensive knowledge about Dance. Also, hes quite a humourous instructor, thus the lesson was much more interesting and fun than I expected! He looked like a santa claus too,I mean he's very cute, can you imagine an old man with a big tummy dancing modern dance?! Super funny. Oh ya, and I love the dance steps that he taught although it was quite garbled at times, I remained sanguine and tried to remeber the steps! His dance steps were more on techniques than flexiblity, quite different from our CCA , so I think we benefited quite alot! Before I forget,Miss Ang can really dance well, she was once a contemporary+jazz+ballet dancer! Time seems to elapse, 1 hour pass really fast, and the course ended, we had to head back to school for CCA again, its like dancing for the whole day, but of course it was really fun! Back to dance in school, same stuffs, practising for SYF, back catch, my back hurts like mad now. And I need to catch my back leg without shoes before 28 Feb , oh my god!
